GREEN Designation Courses Offered in Tacoma in September!
The GREEN 2-Day Course is being offered in Tacoma on September 8-9 at the Tacoma-Pierce Co. Association of REALTORS®. This course offers 15.0 clock hours towards renewal and goes from 8:30am to 5pm both days.
NAR's GREEN Designation Core Course provides real estate professionals with knowledge and awareness of green building principles applied in residences, commercial properties, developments, and communities so that they can help consumers in purchasing, retrofitting, and operating green properties. The course encourages the real estate professional to be an advocate for green principles in the design and use of homes and commercial buildings and a positive force for creating sustainable communities. In order to earn NAR's Green Designation, the student must successfully complete the CORE Course and one of three elective courses. Elective courses are Green Residential Real Estate, Green Commercial Real Estate, and Green Property Management. NAR's Green Designation is supported by the NAR Green Resource Council. Students who complete the Core Course and Elective, receive a one-year membership in NAR's Green Resource Council.

Everyone knows that networking is important for REALTORS because that's one proven way to get referrals. And referrals put money in your pocket.
I have a friend whose best marketing tip is "Go Where the Fish are." Ok, the fish, or people in the business who will willingly give you referrals, can be found in places like Ed Con and the NAR Convention. That's where you can find people who may be have clients who want to move to your area or moved to theirs and have a house to sell. Here's the catch. They would willingly give you these referrals—but they don't know you yet. You know what it's like when you need to refer a client to a REALTOR in another area. You look online or in the CRS or ABR or XYZ directory. But how do you pick one off the list?
If you've met someone face to face and had an actual conversation, you are more likely to select that person as the recipient of your referral. And vice versa. So if you want more good business, make attending Ed Con part of your business plan.
Of course, you have to do more than merely attend. You have to stretch. If you just hang with your homies, I mean the brokers from your office, you will miss the point. Where are the people coming from who move into your market? Seek out the REALTORS from those areas and engage them. Sit next to different people in the classes. Engage brokers in the Trade Show and talk to them about how they use the different products.
My strategy that assists in achieving my goals is to network with enough of the right REALTORS so that I realize 200% more in referrals than my investment in the event. That way I get some first class education, a trip to the Trade Show and some fun with new and old friends at an event that ends up costing me nothing. How can you turn that down?
Regards,
Pili
