  • Bill Clarke

Bill Clarke is an attorney in Olympia who works on state legislative matters and environmental and land-use permitting. He serves as policy director for Washington REALTORS® and represents other clients in the Washington State Legislature on a variety of issues. He is a former member and chair of the Pollution Control Hearings Board and Shorelines Hearings Board, which hear appeals on water rights, water quality, shorelines, and other environmental permits. He was formerly a partner with Mentor Law Group, PLLC, in Seattle, and has worked in government relations for a number of trade associations. Bill is Chair of the Association of Washington Business's Water Resources Committee. He lives in Olympia with his wife Heather, and daughters Grace and Lucy.

As a member of the Washington REALTORS® Senior Faculty Jan teaches ABR, ABRM, GREEN, GRI, SFR, SRES, WCR Designation Courses, Professional Standards, Ethics, At Home With Diversity, Mortgage Fraud, Environmental Hazards, HAFA, the Washington licensing courses of CORE and Transition, along with many classes she has written. Jan was named Instructor of the Year by Washington REALTORS® in 2006, and in 2008 she received the EDDY Award for her contributions to excellence in real estate education. She has been honored with her local and state REALTOR® of the Year awards, and is a Past President and Treasurer of Washington REALTORS®. She is a past President of the North Puget Sound Association of REALTORS®, and has served on numerous REALTOR® committees on the local, state and national levels. She served as the 2011 Regional Vice President for Region 12 of the National Association of REALTORS®, and is a graduate of the NAR Leadership Academy. Her REALTOR® volunteerism has extended to building homes around the country with the REALTOR® Habitat for Humanity project, as well as leading a team of 15 REALTORS® to Louisiana for a Katrina Disaster Relief build. She is currently serving as the NAR President's Liaison to New Zealand, and has been appointed as the Vice-Chair fo the Professional Standards Forum at NAR in 2012. Further, she is a member of the Real Estate Buyer's Agent Council (REBAC), the Woman's Council of REALTORS® (WCR) 2010 and 2011 State Treasurer, Council of Residential Specialists (CRS), Council of Real Estate Brokerage Managers (CRB) 2012 State President Elect, Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI), served on the Northwest Multiple Listing Service Disciplinary Review Board , the Advisory Board to the Skagit County Planning and Development Department, and is past Commissioner and Vice-Chair of the Skagit County Planning Commission. She also served on the Department of Licensing's RCW 18.85 review Task Force. Finally, and most important, Jan is a practicing real estate professional as a Managing Broker at Keller Williams Western Realty in Burlington, Washington. She lives in Sedro Woolly, Washington with her husband Van, and in her spare time enjoys singing and playing golf.

Annie Fitzsimmons is a lawyer whose entire post-adolescent life has focused on the Washington real estate market place in one form or another. When she was 11 years old, her parents opened a real estate company and she worked in the office first as the cleaning crew, later as a receptionist, bookkeeper and typist and ultimately as a real estate licensee. At age 23, she began law school at the University of Washington and upon graduating, began her legal career with the Tacoma law firm of Gordon, Thomas, Honeywell, Malanca, Peterson & Daheim. She was one of the firm's primary residential real property lawyers until 2001 when she left to open her own office and since has served as Washington Realtors Legal Hotline Attorney as well as providing a variety of other legal services for WR. She served on the task force that drafted the Agency Law From 1994 to 1996 and the task force that worked in 2004 and 2005 considering revisions to the Licensing Law, RCW 18.85. She has sued and defended real property owners, buyers, sellers and brokers across the state but has recently made it her personal priority to ensure that no Washington REALTOR® is ever sued again for something they could have avoided. Emily C Ingram is a residential mortgage lending resource in Port Townsend and Jefferson County, WA.  She has more than a dozen years of experience in all areas of mortgage finance.  Emily has been a mortgage loan officer, processor, and underwriter.  She has worked for small brokers and large banks.  She currently manages the Port Townsend branch of New American Funding. 

Emily holds a Bachelor's Degree in Math from Georgia State University.  She serves on the boards of the Jefferson County Association of Home Builders and the Real Estate Professionals for Affordable Housing.  She resides in Port Townsend with two dogs, a bird, and a tortoise.

Pili Meyer loves combining day to day experiences as a listing and selling agent with the information she acquires as a result of her association involvement. Then she flavors it with her own unique humor and insights to produce presentations with take home value for participants. Born and raised in Hawaii, Pili is the third generation in her family to be in the real estate and the education business. She became a Realtor in 1986 and starting her speaking career in 1994. Pili loves the variety of the real estate business and it shows-she is in the top of her market! That's what makes her presentations so interesting and valuable-they're full of practical tips from the trenches. From the beginning of her career, Pili was committed to doing what she could to improve the professionalism of Realtors. She became involved in the association and has served as local association president, state president, and national director. An award winning speaker, Pili is highly acclaimed by the people who take her classes and listen to her webinars. Pili lives in Port Angeles, WA with her husband David. They love traveling to visit their four children and six grandchildren who are spread out all over the country.

Michael R. Schoonover is the 2014 President-Elect of the Washington REALTORS®. He has 29 years of experience in property management, development, acquisition and diposition. He focus's his practice on vacant land and commercial real estate. Currently, he is the Managing Director of RE/MAX Honors–Commercial Division in Puyallup, WA. One of the fastest growing commercial Brokerages in the region. Michael has served on numerous Washington REALTORS® committees, PAG's, Task Forces and as the chair of the Legislative Steering committee as well as its Vice President of Government Affairs. He was awarded Washington REALTORS® “Commercial REALTOR® of the Year” in 2010, and received the REALTORS® Land Institutes “Washington State Land Broker of the Year” the same year. In 2012 Michael was recognized as the “Hugh Hawkins Instructor of the Year”. Recently Michael received the National Association of REALTORS® “2013 National Commercial Award” for outstanding service in the field of Commercial Real Estate. Michael's service extends to the National level where he currently service on two committees. As an instructor/speaker for Washington REALTORS®, REBAC® and the REALTORS® Land Institute Michael has taught classes and given keynote addresses around the country and at several national conventions. He recently co–wrote and developed the VA & Military Real Estate Specialist© certification and authored the PRIMETIME© Time Management and Business Planning Program. Michael is a graduate of Portland State University. Michael and Cheryl live in Gig Harbor, WA and enjoy their four adult children and for active grandchildren.

DOUG TINGVALL has been representing real estate professionals for 30 years and is one of the best-known and most respected real estate attorneys in Washington. Doug was the principal drafter of the Law of Real Estate Agency in Washington, as well as several other laws affecting real estate. He also handled the successful appeal in Sing v. John L. Scott, Inc., 134 Wn.2d 24 (1997). Doug's practice emphasizes real estate brokerage law, transactions, litigation, disciplinary actions, expert testimony and education. A graduate of the University of Washington School of Business (Cum Laud e and Phi Beta Kappa) and the University of Washington School of Law (Member, WASHINGTON LAW REVIEW), Doug has served as President of the Washington Real Estate Education Foundation, and on numerous industry committees and task forces. Doug is an instructor for GRI and teaches courses on purchase and sale agreements, agency law, risk reduction, new construction, core curriculum and legal update. He received the “Affiliate of the Year” award from the Seattle- King County Board of REALTORS® in 1984 and from the Washington Association of REALTORS® in 1985, the Eddy Award from the Washington Real Estate Education Foundation in 1988, and the Hugh Hawkins “Instructor of the Year” award from the Washington Association of REALTORS® in 2003. Doug was also named a “ Super Lawyer” by Washington Law & Politics in 2001. Lawyer by day and performer by night, Doug also has been active in community musical theatre and has been seen as a Pirate in The Pirates of Penzance (Bellevue Opera) , Marmaduke Poindexter in The Sorcerer (Bellevue Opera), the Grand Inquisitor in The Gondoliers (Bellevue Opera), Sergeant Meryll in The Yeomen of the Guard (Bellevue Opera and Seattle Gilbert & Sullivan Society) , Pish-Tush and Pooh-Bah in The Mikado (Bellevue Opera, Bremerton Community Theatre and Seattle Gilbert & Sullivan Society), Emile de Becque in South Pacific (Northwest Savoyards) and Principle Bass-Baritone in Broadway's Golden Age (Burien Little Theater). Doug also does voice-over work. A native Washingtonian, Doug live in Newcastle with his wife, Augusta.

Happy to help, through education! John has worked hard to build his real estate career through education. Starting his real estate career in 1998 with John L. Scott in Port Townsend, Washington, he achieved his Brokers License in 2003. After being awarded the Frank Nardo GRI Scholarship in 2003, he earned his GRI (Graduate of Realtor Institute) designation also in 2003. John attended Washington Realtor's Leadership Institute Northwest, graduated with the class of 2006. John became designated broker at RE/MAX First on January 1, 2010 and received his CDPE (Certified Distressed Property Expert) designation in March 2010. John became a real estate instructor in 2006 because he enjoys having the opportunity to teach, in addition to being an active Realtor. After facilitating well over 100 workshops during his 26 year career with the JCPenny Company. John specialized in topics dealing with diversity, inventory systems and computer training. In addition to real estate, John and his wife Renee own and operated the Blue Gull Inn Bed & Breakfast, in Port Townsend, WA. for the past 14 years. John has being active in his community; Past President of the Port Townsend Chamber of Commerce, Port Townsend School District Board of Directors, Port Townsend Sunrise Rotary Club and Jefferson County Association of Realtors.

Mike's background includes over 18 years in residential real estate sales and commercial investment counseling (specializing in multi-family investment practice). He also has 9 years experience in commercial site acquisition, development and project management (specializing in movie theaters). In the civic arena, Mike served a four–year appointment to the Puget Sound Regional Council Transportation Policy Board; chaired the Transfer of Development Rights Policy Advisory Committee under WA DCTED and served three years as Trustee for the Washington Center for Real Estate Research. On the volunteer side, Mike is past president of the Washington Realtors (2004), a past Region 12 Vice-president of the National Association of Realtors (2008), and is now NAR's Executive Branch Advocate to the U.S. Department of Transportation, as well s a Director and member of Strategic Planning at NAR. He was one of the principal architects of the WR Quality Of Life Program, an advocacy program based in policy, politics and public opinion aimed at better and sustainable community development. Mike has presented the Quality Of Life program across America and Canada. He chaired NAR's Smart Growth Program Advisory while it developed the all new NAR Smart Growth Class and is a certified instructor for that class.

His extensive training includes completion of the American Training Institutes commercial building inspection program, the Building Sciences moisture analysis training course, and the Northwest Wall and Ceiling Bureau EIFS inspection program, the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (A.H.E.R.A) Building inspector certification. Wade is a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors and the International Code Council, Western Washington American Society of Home Inspectors and he is a Washington State certified Structural P.C. Inspector and a recognized expert by the Superior Court of Washington.  Beyond the longevity of his career as an inspector, Wade is attuned to the particular concerns of Real Estate agents, as he served as a license agent for 7 years prior. Through his experience as as agent, he has also become acutely aware of the need for greater guidance on the inspection process with regards to emerging technologies and recent legislative changes.

Brett Allen is a technical communicator and real estate instructor. He earned a BA in English with a minor in Linguistics & Computers in the Humanities from Brigham Young University in 1998. While he has always loved real estate (he began personally investing in 1999), Allen worked for half a decade as a technical communicator for Brooks Automation (a semiconductor manufacturing company), where he created technical documentation and training materials. In 2004, Brett Allen left corporate America to invest full-time in residential real estate and offer internet consulting. In 2010, he became a technology instructor for the Washington Realtors Association. He is a nationally certified e-Pro instructor and is dedicated to helping Realtors make sense of the digital topography. He travels statewide. He provides CE classes for local associations and for individual real estate brokerages. As the business of real estate becomes more high tech, it's nice to have a friend like Brett to help us clear the fog surrounding social media and other new technologies affecting our real estate industry.

Jamie had the great fortune of growing up around land use and eventually following in the footsteps of his father, who was a respected planner and land use attorney. This unique upbringing provided a basis to understanding the evolution of the regulatory environment surrounding land development. A land use attorney is an integral part of any development team and Jamie prides himself on being a dedicated professional who knows how to navigate the myriad of complex rules and relationships encountered in land development.
