“Chris Lester never hesitates to become involved...in the community, in the association, in the industry. When he joined Thurston County REALTORS® Association in 2017, his first question after a Government Affairs Committee Meeting was, "How can I become more involved with the Association?" It didn't take long for him to be an active and much appreciated affiliate member. FINALIST

WHATCOM - MURPHY - LYNN

LYNN MURPHY

Puget Sound Energy

Nominated by the Whatcom County Association of REALTORS®
“Lynn was instrumental in developing the Whatcom County REALTOR's® response to the Bellingham Climate Action Taskforce. She educated our members on the operation of the electrical grid including delivery of power to individual residences. She also researched and quantified the cost to individual homes for each of the energy retrofits suggested by the Taskforce, costs that were oppressive to the average Bellingham household. Her efforts, not only on behalf of Puget Sound Energy, but as Government Affairs Chair for the Bellingham Regional Chamber of Commerce were instrumental in causing the Bellingham City Council to revisit the implementation of Taskforce recommendations and advocating for a more moderate approach to energy efficiency.”

FINALIST

YAKIMA - MAYSON - JAKE

JAKE MAYSON

Central WA Homebuilders Assoc.

Nominated by the Yakima Association of REALTORS®
“Since commencing his role just last year, Jake has initiated a change in the City Code that requires code violations to be recorded against the property within one day. Real estate players – like title companies – have struggled with incomplete filings on code violations, costing both clients and the title insurers significant penalties. He is now pursuing the same change at the County level, where it is an even bigger problem. Being a full-time government affairs coordinator, he takes the time to get into the details of many land use and affordable housing issues - indeed, he often has a seat at the table where these efforts are underway. He provides members with up-to-date information on the progress of various efforts, in effect, providing the kind of intel REALTOR® Associations need to formulate sound policy and set things in motion to effect positive change – he is an invaluable asset. Jake participates in all relevant Realtor® meetings at a high level, and often with ideas and background that make a real difference in REALTOR® efforts.”
