CITIZEN OF THE YEAR AWARD

senatorhobbsSENATOR STEVE HOBBS
SNOHOMISH COUNTY-CAMANO ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®
“Senator Steve Hobbs is a true REALTOR® Champion. Throughout his 12 years in office he has continuously been a strong supporter of REALTOR® legislative priorities and understands how tax and land use issues ultimately impact home-buyers. Hobbs has a record of bipartisan leadership and an ability to reach across the aisle to get things done. At the center of Hobbs’ policy agenda is one simple goal: job creation. He has worked hard in Olympia to cut the bureaucratic red tape that inhibits small business growth, and to promote reasonable tax breaks and incentives for job-producing companies that have shown a commitment to our state and our families. For his many accomplishments and years of service to the people of Washington, Senator Steve Hobbs deserves to be recognized as the next Washington REALTORS® Citizen of Year.”

PARTNER OF THE YEAR AWARD

hansHANS ERCHINGER-DAVIS, LIGHTHOUSE MISSION
WHATCOM COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®
“Hans Erchinger-Davis is the Executive Director for Whatcom County’s Lighthouse Mission. Lighthouse Mission, which is over 95 years old this year, began as a shelter for fishermen and loggers in Whatcom County who fell on hard times. Today, under Hans’ leadership, the mission provides shelter for over 250 people daily.  Hans’ organization provides three meals a day for people, a safe place to sleep, and long-term addiction recovery, employment training, and legal assistance. This year, Hans also spearheaded the creation of a portable shower trailer to make basic hygiene available to the homeless population in Whatcom County. Hans has contributed to community discussions about homelessness and working to help find affordable solutions to placing people back into the housing continuum. It is not uncommon for REALTORS® to present information at community fora and be walking lock-step with Hans and the Lighthouse Mission. Hans, in a short time, has created a culture of taking homeless people and working with them through a process to return them to “thriving lives.”
