State Treasurer scheduled to give budget update to hundreds of Realtors

OLYMPIA, Wash. –Washington State Treasurer, Jim McIntire will provide an update on the McCleary decision and his perspective on the budget debate and why it matters to our state’s fiscal health, economy and to the financial markets to a large gathering of the Washington Association of REALTORS®, Thursday, January 22, at the Red Lion Hotel in Olympia.

Mr. McIntire’s presentation is part of the statewide association’s Legislative Day at which more than 350 representatives of the statewide association meet with their legislators at the Capitol to urge support of home ownership and residential and commercial real estate market recovery.

“All signs seem to be pointing to 2015 bringing continued recovery of the real estate market and that is very encouraging,” says Washington Realtor President Mike Schoonover, the Managing Director of RE/MAX Honors in Puyallup, Wash. “I am eager to hear Treasurer McIntire’s perspective of the McCleary decision, the budget and what affects these issues will have on the recovery of Washington State’s economy.”

Prior to his election as Treasurer, Mr. McIntire maintained a private economic consulting practice with a national company and served on the faculty of the University of Washington’s Evans School of Public Affairs for 25 years, where he taught economics and government. He also served five terms as a state representative, representing the 46th Legislative District in North Seattle.

The Realtors' annual two-day event in Olympia began Wednesday, Jan. 21, with committee meetings and educational opportunities. Wednesday evening, the Washington Realtors also installed state officers and directors at an evening banquet. Those officers include the installation of Puyallup Realtor Mike Schoonover as the 2015 statewide association president.
