Joe Ader
Joe currently serves as the Executive Director of Family Promise, an organization with a vision to end child homelessness in Spokane County. They work towards equipping families and communities to break the cycle of homelessness. In 2016, the City of Spokane approached Family Promise to open "Open Doors," the first-ever 24/7 emergency walk-in shelter for families, providing meals, showers, safe areas for children, case management, and beds. By 2018-2019, their capacity to serve tripled, and they aimed to change the future for 1,000 family members each year through 2024. Under Joe's leadership, Family Promise of Spokane became one of the fastest-growing homeless service providers in the United States.
Joe also serves as the Chief Executive Officer with "Understanding Poverty," a training and consultation organization that provides guidance and support plans for churches and missions to assist those suffering from poverty and/or homelessness.
As a volunteer leader, Joe has served as the Director of Compassion Ministries and Volunteers, overseeing the new Home Center at the Bedford Stones Community Garden, United Way, and as a Local Missions Pastor. He has a history of volunteering for Young Life, Vision and Mission Teams, and the Spokane Homeless Coalition.
