Brandon Nelson

Since 2018, Brandon Nelson, a real estate agent and avid outdoorsman, has been sponsoring several organizations in Whatcom County, including the Staar Ovarian Cancer Foundation, Whatcom Center for Early Learning, Blue Skies for Children, Bellingham Food Bank, Wild Whatcom, Bellingham Bay Swim Team, and others, with donations ranging from $500 to $5,000 annually. In addition to his ongoing support, Brandon purchased a moving van in 2018 to help clients with their moving needs. When not in use, the van is used to serve various community organizations, including the Ferndale Food Bank, Interfaith Coalition of Whatcom County, Ski-to-Sea, and World Relief of Whatcom County Refugee Program.

Brandon also sponsors local events that promote a healthy and outdoor lifestyle, such as the Lake Whatcom Triathlon, Lake Padden Traverse, and Bellingham Bay Marathon. He is also proud to support the Galbraith Gravity Racing circuit, a youth mountain biking club that pairs youth aged 5-15 with professional coaching and team training using mountain biking and the world-class mountain biking trails on Whatcom County's Galbraith Mountain as the base. Furthermore, he recently sponsored a young man's go-kart racing effort, who approached Brandon with a proposal to sponsor his racing go-kart, including fundraising needs, spreadsheets on costs, proposed earnings, etc. Brandon was inspired by his own childhood dream of being a go-kart racer, so he decided to help this kid pursue his dream.

Brandon is a Guinness World Record holder in distance kayaking, a record he set in Whatcom County's Lake Padden in 2013, fulfilling a promise made to his mom prior to her death. He is also appointed to the Bellingham Bay Swim Team board of directors and invited to join the PeaceHealth Community Foundation for St. Joseph's Hospital, a prestigious invitation extended to those who are truly making a difference in their community.

As a recipient of the REALTOR® Community Service award in January 2023, Brandon remarked that we are all evaluated by the good we do in our community, and he was inspired to go out and do more. He invited every member of the Association to join him in making Whatcom County a much better place.
