Getting Started

Washington REALTORS® welcomes experienced professionals who have expertise and knowledge to share through real estate education. Whether you're interested in teaching an existing WR course or have developed an educational topic you believe would benefit our members, our Instructor Faculty provides an opportunity to contribute to meaningful, high-quality education across Washington State.


If you're interested in joining the WR Instructor Faculty, please review the qualifications and expectations below.

Instructor Qualifications

  • Strong professional experience and knowledge in real estate or a related field.
  • Previous teaching, training, or public speaking experience is required.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, engage participants, and provide practical, real-world examples.
  • Knowledge of current industry practices, laws, and regulations related to your area of expertise.
  • Comfortable teaching in both virtual and in-person settings.
  • Must be an approved Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL) instructor or obtain approval before teaching continuing education courses.

Instructor Expectations

WR instructors are expected to:

  • Deliver accurate, engaging, and relevant education.
  • Come prepared and keep course materials current.
  • Follow approved course outlines and DOL continuing education requirements.
  • Maintain professionalism and encourage a positive learning environment.
  • Communicate with WR staff, meet deadlines, and honor teaching commitments.
  • Be open to feedback and continuously improve their courses.
  • Focus on education rather than promoting personal businesses or services.

Teaching Opportunities

WR welcomes instructors interested in teaching existing courses or developing new educational content that meets the needs of our members. Opportunities may include continuing education classes, webinars, workshops, and statewide events.

Acceptance into the WR Instructor Faculty does not guarantee teaching assignments. Opportunities are based on member needs, course demand, and instructor availability.

 

Application & Selection Process

All applications are reviewed by the WR Education Committee. Applicants are evaluated based on their professional experience, teaching background, subject matter expertise, and how they can contribute to WR's education program.

Qualified applicants may be asked to provide additional information, participate in an interview, or complete a teaching demonstration.
